August 23, 2017 (SEATTLE, WASHINGTON) – Trio Group defended their title as Golf Tournament Champions at the 21st Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Silent Auction at the Golf Club at Hawks Prairie in Lacey, Washington. The winning foursome consisted of Dennis Brooks (Trio Group), Erik Haag (Metro Parks of Tacoma), Jeff Quint (Trio Group) and Leon Titus (CBRE).
The Costco Wholesale team won 2nd Place with players Steve Cruz, Todd Giefer and Brad Williams. 3rd Place went to Troy Martin of Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) and Keith Bennett, Bryan Tupper and Joey Zaputil of Puetz Golf.
Individual contest winners were Sean Vaovasa for Closest to the Pin and Long Drive, Court Brown for Accuracy Drive and the Chipping Contest, and Bryan Tupper for the Mega Putt. Vaovasa represented Elyon International, Brown represented Zones, Inc., and Tupper represented Puetz Golf.
The event benefits the Northwest Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council (MSDC) Scholarship Fund. Every year, the Northwest Mountain MSDC awards $25,000 in scholarship dollars to minority-owned businesses, primarily as a result of donations received at Council events and fundraisers. Over the last 8 years the Council has provided over $200,000 in minority business scholarships.
The 21st Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Silent Auction raised close to $12,000.00 through the Annual Silent Auction, event sponsorships, golf tournament and contest tickets, and raffle drawing.
