The Northwest Mountain region was well represented at last month’s National MSDC Conference and Business Opportunity Fair.
MBE ZONES, Inc. was named National Class IV Supplier of the Year at the conference’s awards banquet, where MBE Dynamic Language was named Western Region Class III Supplier of the Year.
Some of the Council’s Corporate Members also were honored, with Starbucks Corporation and Wells Fargo being named Gazelle Companies for growing 25 percent or more in one year alone. The Boeing Company was honored with one of three Best Development Program awards for its minority supplier development program.
“We work hard in the Northwest and it’s beginning to show,” said Council President and CEO Fernando Martinez. “The Northwest Mountain region Members and MBEs are getting recognition on the national platform now, an effort that has taken years to accomplish.”
Fifteen Council MBEs sent 50 attendees to the conference, representing: Dynamic Language, El Mundo Communications, Elyon International, Inabia Solutions, iShield IT, JMA Information Technology, Kalani Packaging, Kim’s Embroidery, LDC, Inc., Magellan Architects, Populus Group, PSP, P2 Solutions Group, Wong Fleming, and ZONES, Inc.
Not to be outdone, representatives from 14 of the Council’s Corporate Members were also in attendance, from: Alaska Airlines, AT&T, Boeing, City of Seattle, Intel Corporation, Microsoft, Port of Seattle, Starbucks, T-Mobile, U.S.A., Teleperformance, University of Washington, Union Bank, Wells Fargo, and Wyndham Vacation Ownership.
With the conference having come and gone, the last major Council event for the year is a series of year-end meetings. A Seattle year-end meeting on Dec. 8 will be followed by a similar event in Portland on Dec. 9 and a year-end webinar for those who cannot attend either one on Dec. 11.
