The Northwest Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council hosted the Washington State Department of Transportation Quarter 2 Best Practices Summit on April 29, 2014. Various agencies and corporate member representatives attended to discuss best strategies, issues and solutions in supplier diversity. Issues and values discussed included local jobs and money, efficient spending of taxpayer dollars, best value and ease of business, innovation, database tracking, ownership of social responsibility and sustainable business plans.
Supplier diversity in its simplest form is the process which creates fair and equitable opportunity for diverse business enterprises to engage and participate in corporate or public agency sourcing and procurement opportunities. The desired state is to increase business with diverse firms while delivering value to the corporations, public agencies, and ultimately the customer!
