Tacoma School Board selected Tacoma-based Korsmo Construction for construction of the new Grant Center for the Expressive Arts and replacement of Boze Elementary School.

The US Department of Transportation Bonding Education Program (BEP) is a partnership with the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Tacoma Business Center, Sound Transit, NAMC and Surety and Fidelity Association of America to help small businesses become bond ready. This program is tailored to businesses competing for transportation related contracts. The target audience for this program includes small and emerging contractors in the transportation field. However, the program is open to all contractors seeking to increase their business capacity and run their operation more effectively. Space is limited.

Suicide continues to be a leading cause of death in the United States. 
In Washington, it is the 8th leading cause of death and is the 1st leading cause of death for ages 10-14, 2nd leading cause of death for ages 15-34, and 3rd leading cause of death for ages 35-44.

In response to a recent increase in teen suicides in our area, our ARY/CHINS Program has partnered with Forefront Suicide Prevention to host a FREE training for community members and community partners.

City of Seattle capital departments are hosting a Feb. 21 workshop to provide architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental services, and related services consultants with information about upcoming opportunities to do business with City departments. 
 
The workshop will be held in the Bertha Knight Landes Room at Seattle City Hall, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Contract Managers will present information on upcoming City of Seattle projects. There will be time to network with contract managers and other consultants. 
 
Due to room size, advance registration is requested to guarantee admittance. Registration will also help develop a distribution list for future events. 

Among the topics that will be covered in this workshop are:

  • Networking and upcoming professional services projects.
  • Women and minority-owned business inclusion plans.
  • City of Seattle contracting process changes and trends. 

All questions asked during the General Q&A portions of the workshop will be recorded and published.
