BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS
Business Engagement Sessions were reintroduced by the Council in 2016.
A few weeks before the conference, corporate/public agency members receive the enhanced profiles of MBEs registered for the Conference. The profiles are shared with sourcing/procurement teams to select qualified MBEs or potential suppliers.
Corporate/public agency members submit their selected MBEs to the Council.
The Council coordinates one-on-one meetings between the corporate/public agency members and the MBEs they selected.
The meetings are held at the Annual Conference and each meeting runs for 15-minutes. These are one-on-one meetings between the corporate/public agency member and MBE.
Corporate/public agency members usually have multiple meetings, depending on the number of MBEs they selected.
MBEs may have multiple meetings depending on how many times they were selected by members.
To fill their remaining schedule, members may review the full MBE list. MBEs selected will be contacted by the Council to confirm participation and registration for the Annual Conference.
Since 2016, the Council has facilitated over 250 meetings, with an average of at least 50 meetings per hour at the Annual Conference.
INFORMATIONAL ROUND TABLES
In addition to Business Engagement Sessions, Informational Round Tables present multiple opportunities to meet sourcing/procurement executives and regional partners supporting supplier diversity. Learn how to do business with corporations/public agencies, how to qualify as a supplier, what type of opportunities are coming up, ask questions or learn from conversations initiated by peers joining the group. Each round table will accommodate 1-3 corporate/public agency executives and 6-8 MBEs.
Information Sessions are held concurrently at the Annual Conference. Each session features a panel of industry leaders, corporate executives and/or subject matter experts. This year's theme "Sustaining the Future of our Communities" touches on the impact and importance of sustainability in business and economics, with discussions and Q&A focusing on Manufacturing, Retail and Technology.

What Are You Building?
As business leaders, we’re contributing more than services and opportunities to our communities. We have an important role to play. It’s tempting to focus all our energy on the obvious responsibilities: strategy, pleasing our stakeholders and making a profit. While those things are important, we can do so much more. The real magic happens when we tap into a purpose that’s greater than our business. That’s how we can truly create something that will leave a sustainable, positive impact on our communities. Set your sights higher, think bigger. Inspiration is contagious; as business leaders we just need to plant the seed.
