The Northwest Mountain MSDC turned its annual year-end meeting into its first-ever Economic Summit. The Dec. 17 event was kicked off by Board Chair Diane Lin, who presented the Council's new mission, vision, and value statement and its new brand. Lin was followed by economist Steve Lerch, who gave a presentation on the state of the national and regional economies; Council staff member Nguyen Tang, who discussed MBEs' economic impact on the region; Council President & CEO Fernando Martinez, who gave an overview on and provided insight into regional disparity studies; and UW Professor of Finance William Bradford, who presented part of his 2013 study highlighting the challenges MBEs face today as well as the three things MBEs need to do to remain sustainable. The summit concluded with the introduction of the Council's new website, as well as the announcement of the launch of Northwest Mountain MSDC consulting services in 2015. Look for more information on the services over the next few months--and happy holidays and have a wonderful new year!
